Hi my mechanic who restored my 1972 914 has passed away and as I get older and due to health problems I can’t maintain the car. I’m looking for a shop or mechanic in Central New Jersey area, I’m in Somerville. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Tom

Not so sure about your area. One in Summit. Others further N and W.
PS: See notice in Garage of Worldwide 914 Porsche Day in Morristown on 9/14. Not that far!

what type of work are you looking to get done? out NJ 914 community could help.
...and, if we can't, we could track down a mechanic

Hi and thanks! Long story short I need someone to gap the points and finish the tune up. I’m open to changing to electronic ignition but the car was running ok with the old points. The original problem was after about 15 minutes the car started to miss and cut out and the coil would get to hot to touch and I was told to replace the condenser. Which I was able to do but then I had a stroke and the dexterity has not come back. And finding a dealer or mechanic that work on a 914 has been a challenge. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

sent PM about stopping by....I'm with some on the board that prefer to keep the points. always fun to set gap, but after a couple tries, it gets done.
hopefully could arrange to stop by early August

Depending on day, time, and weather, I’ll be glad to swing on down, too. Only 30-40 minutes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
