Does anyone recognize this thin rubber mat found under the pedal cluster that can offer a part number? Ours is breaking down.

I looked in the PDF parts catalog and searched on vendor sites but can't find a part number. Alternatively, is there a material source that I can cut my own?

I recently pulled the pedal cluster on a low mile car and did not see anything like that under the cluster.
When you install the cluster put some sealant around the studs that go through the firewall. It prevents wayer entry which is why clusters rust out on the bottom. Porsche started doing that on 1978 911"s

When I pulled the pedal cluster out of a 74" that I used to have, this was several years ago, there was a piece under the pedal cluster as well. I have attached a couple of pics, and even though it looks like it's metal, if I recall correctly, it too was made of a rubbery compound. (in the pic, it looks suspiciously like the piece of metal that was removed for the master cylinder hole, but they weren't the same size.

The reason I believe it was made of rubber(even though it looks rusty), is that I replaced it with a couple of sheets of "Flex Tape". You can see on the floorboard where it sat beneath the pedal cluster. I cannot say for certain that the pedal cluster had never been removed, but it sure looked original.

There's a round protrusion on the floor right there (see arrorw). Maybe they were trying to keep water from getting in via the "smile" cut from the factory.

What is the recommended sealant? Presumably Porsche used something from Wurth?

I removed the rubber pad and did some wire wheel action on the visible rust. Some more surprises.

Like @Craigers17 I have an odd circular area which looks like someone tried to seal it.

@DennisV The "disk" in my hand in my post was sitting right in the area that you have circled in red. I wonder if you clean up that sealant what you find under it ...if anything.

Based on my impression when I removed my pedal cluster (many years ago), I think the factory laid down some seam sealer, then set the round disc thingy in place and then installed the pedal cluster to compress everything. That way the sealer cured with everything in position. That’s how I’m going to do it when I reinstall mine.

Ours has the disc and half round cut-out too. What is the proper way to reinstall?

Sorry, but I’m not sure of the exact placement or procedure to re-install. I think I put the disk back in and covered it with a couple strips of thick flex tape, but it’s been a while, and I sold that car a couple years ago. I consider myself the village idiot in these matters, so I would consult others.

I could see the half-circle cut out helping with that. Why the underside ring and channel? Is this also part of the drainage mechanism? I'm guessing the cars were vertical dip and remove in 1970, not flipped over like cars today.
