@914 my bud Alan said he was going to go and my old bud from 11 on Dave Tuggey says he is coming in his Boxster same as the last time.

So, 2 buds from my 11th birthday till now. Mark and Dave, we lived 1,000 ft from each other in elementary school and into high school. Shared a house together in 1973. Always car and motorcycle guys. A 60 year friendship!

This drive is now dedicated to the memory of the late Bela Szekely.

Bela was the ownwer of Bela's Foreign Auto Repair in Burbank and had been repairing VWs prior to opening his shop in 1969. Bela was an amazing mechanic, but an even better human being. He had worked on my cars since my VW Type 1 came back to Cali in 1998 and also rebuilt the stock 2.0 in my 914 from NOS parts that he still had on the shelf.

The SoCal VW community mourns one of its finest and may he forever rest in peace.
