All sorts of interesting things in the background there...

I spot both an early and late S30, FD, Supra, Zenki from the Rising Sun.

Bunches of German stuff.
Maybe a Hammer...

And some Italian weaponry.

You have an "Axis" garage!

Very nice!

Are they all yours?

It's a nice 914-6. But it is not the last six built. All of the 72 914-6 cars were built with a 4 cylinder steering column and wiring harness. So the key would be on the right in the column.

And the 72 914-6 was not sold in the US. So I would guess this is a late 71.

Do you have a picture of the VIN number?

Morning gentleman, I spoke to soon. It’s a 71’914/6, threw it on here as a late night thought lol. We suspect it may be the last one built by Porsche, as in the last one from stuttgart. Vin is 9141430443, according to what we’ve been able to find it’s the last one in the registry for 71’ before going to the VW plant. Car was ordered willow green(43) L63E. The car since has been repainted to a chiffon-ish white and glass GT flares added.

Attached is the new spec sheet , porsche doesn’t offer COA’s unless inspected by a classic center:/

Background is the car was found in Japan after sitting for a quite sometime. No real idea why it was repainted but seems like a honest car so far, original interior, nice tub and floors. I’ll follow up with some pics once the rain passes.

Thank you guys already for the responses, hopefully we can figure this out!

Dan

Hi guys, yes I addressed that in the first page of the thread.

We think its the last one built at Porsche before VW plant took over?

Thanks

I am still not clear on this. We’re not all the bodies made at Karmen then shipped to Porsche for final assembly? VW never made any 914-6s to my knowledge. George Clay am I wrong? Did I forget something here?

@dr914 George, correct me if I am wrong here.

All 914-6 car bodies were built at Karmann, and shipped to the Porsche factory, including the 72 models. However, the 72 models got a 72 914-4 wiring harness, dash frame, and steering column. Then a small adapter harness was used to hook the 4 cylinder harness to the 914-6 relay board.

And the 72 914-6 was not sold in the US.

The suspension, engine, transmission, shift linkage, oil tank, lines, brakes and wheels were all Porsche factory six parts.

This is probably the last six built with the 911 column and the key on the left, and the last one imported to the US.

But I don't think it is the last factory six.

That is my understanding as well the OP should correct that and it will help his case of selling it

So, basically what we have here is a thread with the wrong title, a 71’ that isn’t original or unique, with the wrong build information, trying to have its price pumped up in advance of an auction and failing to meet reserve? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I don't think the OP was doing anything malicious. I think his understanding of the info on the 'last 914-6' was incorrect.

You’re a better man than I. I have my doubts when a new member as of Sept 24’ with a handful of posts then puts a car up for auction about 3 months later.

I want to to be wrong.

I agree.... not accurate.. and not the last one.
glass flares?

but continue to push the inaccuracies... an unsuspecting buyer will be taken advantage of.

I would never endorse a seller making incorrect claims about a car but…buyers have to do their homework. A seller might just be parroting what the previous seller told them to sell the car. Trusting any auction site to do the homework for you is foolish.

I don't trust "re-sellers" that have an automotive re-sale business at all.

I worked for a guy once that wanted to corner the Z-car market (Like the Corvette guys do). He had 70+ late model cars (Z32s 90 and up).

After I was hired, I went through them...

I reported he had 30+ cars that were pieced together out of other cars and were NOT worth selling. Complete roaches!

He had 20 cars that were decent and priced properly.

And he had 20 "masterpieces" that he should INCREASE the prices on...

He corrected my thought processes in a single sentence.

He said, "My job is to put butts in seats, everything else is what lawyers are for."

He went on to say the first 30 on my list were the cheapest cars and that was what really sold. They represented 70% of his profit margin.
He also said, those came through the auction and were going to be sold in the metroplex.
He decided that HE was going to be "that guy".

The nice cars, that were already expensive, sold slowest and he was planning on REDUCING their prices!

He was ALL about how quickly his stock sold and didn't give a rat's ass about the quality of the cars.

Sadly, this created a "conflict of interest" for me as I was the person that had to deal with the trash cars that the new buyers complained about.

The worst part about this job was he treated his employees like Royalty.

He was one of the very best bosses I ever had...

Always took my advice, never argued, but was totally predatory regarding his customers.

He sold the Z-car lot off and BEGGED me to stay with him as his "personal" technician to go to auctions with him when buying stuff and service his families stuff.

This guy OWNED 8 lanes of the Dallas auto auction and was the wealthiest guy I ever worked for.

He paid me big bucks...

A wealthy reseller is NOT where you want to find your car!
