Still sorting out the 14. Got the 123 distributor in, replaced the clutch cable, refurbished the interior, a bit and now working on the engine. Found no compression on #1 cylinder. Car still ran pretty well and was quick compared to other stock 2.0’s I’d driven. Dropped the engine and found #1 exhaust valve had a couple of bites taken out of it!
In the process of dealing with that. Also found the valve covers could use changing as they’re pretty beat up. Are stock covers the best bet? Searched for new ones but have only found used. There are the ones on the Type 4 site but $800.00 is not going to happen. How about the ones that attach with through bolts? Any experience with how they seal? Here’s a pic of the exhaust valve.
