This is the only mark I see. I'll turn it to that use that as a base mark.

That is the mark you are looking for. It really is to taste so don't stress it. Do give the engine a few seconds after each clock when tuning it, it can take a few for the change to be noticed. Counterclockwise will lean the idle mix.

The car is running great. I did buy a new circuit board for the TPS but haven't installed it. Recalibrating it made a big difference and I don't plan on putting the new one on right away. I ordered an analog meter and will calibrate it again when I get it. At some point I will have the MPS rebuilt to get rid of that slow leak. I have been checking the spark plugs to see how the mixture is and they are looking really good. It seems to be running cooler now. But some of it is the cooler weather. I had just put in an external cooler which helped a lot with how it ran with the carbs. We will see next summer if I even need it.
That's about it with this thread. It took longer than expected but I'm glad I stuck with it and got it done. Thanks to all that chimed in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Good news. And when you get around to the mps, don't farm it out unless you actually have someone that can tune an mps. I know of about 4 people and none of them are in the "Rocky mountains". Better to do it yourself, it is easy but time consuming. Which means it will cost insane amounts of money for your local mechanic to even try, but nothing for you to do yourself.
And truthfully, if you like the way it is running now, and it isn't overheating the heads, don't even bother mucking with it. |
