We have kits with brand new front calipers. They include brake pads and caliper pistons the size of a Porsche 911 so will dramatically increase your braking power. We also sell the calipers by themselves if you already have the 19mm master cylinder and stainless lines

Why the "T" instead of the factory part?

Are the pistons bigger on the BMW calipers or just the pads?

I believe they are the same size as the 914-6 front caliper.
This will drive brake bias rearward unless 914-6 rear calipers are used. It's a decent upgrade, the pedal "feel" should improve when using the 19mm master. I'm not real sure how much improvement over the stock stuff it will really provide. The pads should last longer. The ratio of the 17mm 914 master to the stock calipers is very close to the 914-6 19mm master to the larger -6 calipers. So, a longer pedal stroke that is slightly easier to modulate VS a shorter stroke and higher pedal effort is the difference. These differences are minor. Lots of folks are completely happy running the 19mm master with the stock 914 calipers. Many prefer the higher/harder pedal. I am planning on using a 19mm master and the BMW calipers on my car. I may install a simple adjustable proportioning valve in the rear line if it proves to be an issue. |

I’m familiar with the 19mm MC “upgrade” - personally I like the softer, higher power ratio of the smaller MC but I was always under the impression that the bmw calipers were just bigger pads with the same size pistons as a 914-4. But I’ve never measured them so I don’t know for sure. It would be nice to include specs.

I've got a pair of 320I calipers apart.
They have 48MM pistons in them. |
