Hey everyone! My 914 gt project came to a screeching halt when I tried to put on the rear wheels. The fender rubs right at the top of the tire, a problem that I didn't think was going to happen with the size of wheel I chose. They are 15x8 fuchs with 235/30 toyo proxes tires.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've been advised to add negative camber and roll fenders, but I want to check with the community as well. Will add photos below

Your tire size it way to big. I run 245/45 on 9''x16'' and that all I can fit with fiberglass. Metal fender will need even smaller tires to not rub.

I really want to see those tires!

BTW I had Toyo Proxies on my BMW M3. They are really soft. They lasted about 8000 miles. You will not want to run any camber with those tires or you will shorten the life even more.

This site is full of members who have been there, done that and got the T-shirt. You may be better served if you discuss your build and plans so others can chime in and let you know their experiences. Saves time, money and anxiety; just a thought. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yeah your tire selection is super wide. 245 is probably the largest you can go. Wheel size is totally fine. Need to see ride height as well.

Unless they added metal when they installed them, I have not seen greater than 255 with race tires. I am running 245 street tires. My Michelin Pilot tires have a rib, so I had to drop down to 245.

The obvious would be to see if there is a lip you can roll to gain some more room.

335 is a lot of tire for an 8" rim. I'd like to see some pictures of that.

Trim or roll the lip, probably smaller tires. If you have pictures, please post them.

Hi Chris,
I thought you told me 235 width on the phone.
The only way to get 335 tires under GT flares is by custom modification.

If they are 235s then clearly the OP has an issue with flare placement

You can trim the lip
Roll the lip
Pull in the flare and make more room
Raise the car
Use different tires
Etc.

Every car fits a bit differently and every flare install will vary a bit.

^^^ Yup! I went thru multiple wheel/tire combos along my journey. Felt like a wheel collector/dealer at one point.
