I haven't installed exhaust yet, working on cables.
I don't have a picture from my tear-down as to how the Speedo/Clutch cables were suspended.
Anyone have a reference photo they can share???

In case I wasn't clear...
It looks to me that halfway from the firewall to the clutch roller there is a spot on the engine case that wants to accept a screw. And my guess is that I need a bracket to act as a sling to support the Clutch and Speedo cables. On 914Rubber I see what looks like a leather sling, something that I can easily make myself.

I mount the speedo cable with a loop clamp on the trans side cover at the12 o'clock position. Keeps it away from the heat exchangers.
The strap you see on 914 Rubber is a reproduction of a strap that was used in the engine compartment to support the accelerator cable.

@cassmcentee

Hey Cass,

I have my 1975 1.8 up on the scissor lift right now to adjust the clutch so here's a few pictures of the cable routing for that car. You can see the speedo cable housing got a bit melted at some point in its life. Right now it is just cable tied to the clutch cable. Hope these are helpful.

Cass,

I've also left accessible the links to the dropbox photos from when I had the car up for sale. Not sure if the photos you need are in there. There are also links there for the video of the theft attempt and a link to Mike's original for sale posting from 2009. You might want to download those for future reference, and amusement. I still get a laugh from that bumbling theft attempt. I'll probably delete those files, or make them private, in the near future. Here's the link:

@fiacra Thank You! I'll hit up the link tomorrow and copy everything to a drive.
One of Ruby's cables has the same wear in the same spot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
