I reuse mine. I use a torch and warm the screw. You will see the plastic ball soften. It will come out easily. I then insert a 1/8" nylon ball n place. A drop of instant adhesive will hold in in place. When inserting the screw, some will be cut off. You may think it all came out but it hasn't. I have done this for yr\ears. McMaster Carr will sell 100 1/8" nylon balls for less than a single cone screw. I have done this for years and no issues!

May I nominate you sir for CSOB of the year? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

Thanks. But cheap isn't it. Shipping delay also plays a part. I never need to wait on one.

That’s why you buy 4 at a time. They fit in the fuse tin stored in the glove box.

Intended to be one time use

Replace both. And you’ll be done

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) ^^^^ That

But given the price of those stupid screws, if you are in a pinch or if being cheap, use blue threadlock. If you look at a new screw they have a round dot of some sort of thread locker on them. Not sure if this is why they are specified as one use or if there is another mode of failure as well, but this thread locker isnt very useful once its been installed a 2ne time so adding removeable thread locker is good insurance.

Thanks for the part numbers! Think I'll order several to have spares, especially since I've never replaced them in either car, just tightened them!!

I remember there was a vendor that had a modified screw with a nut on the end that could be tightened down. Too bad I didn't buy one back then.
Any member know what I am talking about.
Maybe it is still being sold or not?

First time I've seen a cone screw facing up. Is there something else going on here?

I guess I put the screw on the top when I did the tail-side shift conversion. Never thought about it. Seemed correct to keep the screw on the top away from road debris even though it has a cover.

Problem solved. Sort of. At least I can move the car around before making a permanent repair.

While inspecting under the engine, I noticed one of the exhaust bolts is missing.

Your coupler is on upside down. Get a new coupler and a couple of new cone screws

The transmission is being worked on now. Here it's getting a cleaning.

Attached Image

Going to clean up the harness and send to Dennis (Timmy2) to have a new harness made.

Attached Image

Removing the air injection port to the cat for the emissions system. The pump and valves are long gone.

Attached Image

The internals of the cat have partially melted. Found several molten chunks in the muffler as well.

Attached Image

Port welded up.

Next step for me is to do a bit of welding on the tins then transfer all the parts to Mark's shop for eventual assembly.
