As a self anointed air cooled enthusiast, ya’ all just keep finding new ways to destroy 914’s (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

And I wouldn't if there was an economical, reliable method of achieving 300whp out of a T4.
If there was an economical path to 200, I'd have probably chosen it on my nice 75 and left the chassis "stockish"...
IMO if you're spending more than 10K you SHOULD receive more than 120hp...
The Boxster swap would be very budget friendly as I own it now.
I expect to spend less than 10K going LGX and Bosxter 6. I'm just not sure if that will work and it looks like others have been successful with the modern Porsche 6.
One benefit of the Porsche swap is "Staying in the family".
AFAIAC the Boxster IS the 914's descendent.

I got lucky, there was a small window right around 2005-ish where air-cooled 3.6L engines and related swap parts were still affordable.

I paid $7500 for the engine, headers and mufflers, a box full of PMS conversion parts and an already flipped 915.

These days, i would have to take out a 2nd mortgage on the house if i wanted to do that swap (or blow up the engine).

I bought my first 3.2 for $4,500 (2011) and it felt like a pretty big commitment.

If I was offered that TODAY, I would be able to pay cash for that at 9AM tomorrow!

Here's something really sad. My dad had two 964s.

The 94 4S with quarter million miles Sort of roachy. (a BUNCH like this current Boxster!) had what was described as "Cup" suspension and the "Big Red Brakes" he paid 7500 for.
His wife named it "Hobbit".

That car was a FREAKING hoot to drive, gutted cat, BIG holesaw cut holes in airbox, Someone's performance chip/tune.
Howled like a werewolf and you could drive it HARD!
It was cosmetically challenged, and you couldn't really devalue it.
Ugly Grey, not metallic...
I did a BUNCH of shit to it. It needed help!

I'd kill to have Hobbit back today. Dad sold for 10K after repairs

#2 1994 Speedster! Narrow body, 20K miles, Guards red, and Recaro "KILL YOUR ASS" carbon fiber seats. I would have fit better NAKED!
Bone ass stock concours candidate. No one but Porsche dealer touched before my dad.
Flawless paint, NO chips ever!

Terrifying to drive!
I WAS SO careful with this car. It was SO NICE that I didn't want to be the first person to scratch it.
Bought for 55K sold 3 years later for 52K AND THEN He was offered it back two years later for what the guy had in it. 52 plus the service receipts.

Dad didn't jump!
Today that car would be at the HIGH end of 94 speedsters.

And you really shouldn't modify something like that at all.

It's NO FUN if you can't Fuch with it...(IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif)

I do not have measurements for boxster engnes (could get you 996 turbo) from what I understand the bore centers are the same but the water cooled motors are wider. Got to be some one on here with a Boxster or water cooled 911 that could measure.
