I have an original 914-6 trans i got at an auction with no history. My plan is to have Dr Evil rebuild it to customer requirements. Options are: 1. convert to a side shift, 2. rebuild stock or 3.custom gears.
As a core price is $2,250. Price for rebuild at cost plus shipping. Minimum time to restore is 4-6 weeks. Who nods one? can get a picture later this week. |

Dr. Evil converted my original 6 transaxle to a side-shifter and changed the gearing for the 3.2 that was in my car. It shifts and drives great and at 75 MPH I am spinning about 2700 RPM with 195x65x15 tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

How does a 914-6 tailshifter differ from a 914-4 tailshifter? Is it the gearing?
