1970 Porsche 914 Targa 5 speed with priced to sell asking price of $15,500. A nice looking and running 914 and a really good example of an affordable entry level, as it was originally intended, Porsche. At the time of purchase in 2022, being recently retired, I was looking for a Porsche project, and this 914 fell into my hands. Not much in the way of documentation but near as I can tell in the early 2000’s the engine underwent a 2056cc big bore conversion that included dual Weber carburetors and dual PMB custom exhaust. Also around that time the original front and rear bumpers were replaced with fiberglass in the 916 style. Can only guess that a previous owner didn’t make these changes to increase street performance but in an effort to make the car very competitive in autocross and other track events, and honestly make it more fun to drive. The year before my purchase the exterior was repainted and the windshield replaced but prior to that, the car was neglected for a number of years and needed a great deal of work to get it back on the road. That work consisted of a engine rebuild, fuel and brake system overhauls, and much more. Can provide a comprehensive list of that work. The only rust issue encountered was under the battery (the infamous hell hole) and that was refurbished with rubber sealant and battery support and tray replacement. There are several electrical issues that remain to be sorted out including the windshield wipers, fog lights, and radio. Enjoy working on mechanical issues, electrical issues not so much. Have receipts for all work/parts since purchase. New tires 2/25. The car is located in Montrose, CO and registered/titled/licensed in the state of Colorado. Selling to make room in garage for another Porsche project, not as the asking price indicates, make money. Payment thru pre-arranged transfer of funds between buyer and seller’s banks.
