It's time to move on from my '74 914 LE (although there's not much Creamsicle left). Car is a big 4, straight and very clean, other than a little surface rust in the rear of the rear trunk. To my knowledge, the repaint was done in the early 90's with the car taken to bare metal and finished in a custom color that I've called "Irish-ish". It's a similar tone to Irish Green, but a few shades darker & does some pretty cool shifting in different light. Paint is still in excellent condition, but could probably benefit from a correction, in my opinion.

The car is quick, fun, and well-sorted with a very recent rebuild by Hasselgren Engineering in Berkeley, CA. It is essentially turnkey, add driver & favorite windy backroads. The car is located in Napa, CA.

I know, I know, low post count posting to sell. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Long time lurker while the engine was being rebuilt. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for a link to more pics and all the engine build details you could possibly want.

A few of the NorCal folks saw this car at EASY yesterday. Despite the rule about not commenting on ads, I'd welcome any of them to share their honest opinions (good, bad, whatever) after seeing the car in person.

69,6xx mi indicated, TMU
Newly rebuilt 2549 Type 4 (69,377 mi), 196 hp/197 lbft on the stand at break-in @ 9.05:1 CR
-LN Engineering Nicasil cylinder kit
-JE Pistons, 102 mm
-LN Engineering forged H-beam rods
-FAT Performance 78mm counter balanced crank
-Webcam 163/86b split duration cam
-European Motorworks valves 48/38 with EMW HD dual springs
-Weber 44s
-Tangerine racing 1.75" EVO Street Exhaust w/heat
-JWest RennShift, extended stick
-Tangerine Racing shift linkage & bushings
-Rear coilovers (believed to be Tarett/KONI)
-Reinforced rear trailing arms
-Group4 LMZ 16x6 silver w/polished lip with low mileage Bridgestone Potenza Sports

OK, I have no stake in this and I only met the seller (seems like a good dude) because I was at EASY and just had to check out this car. So I'll go:

BEAUTIFUL paint. Looks SO good on those wheels, too. Visually, this shows about a well as a 914 can. I didn't hear it run so can't comment on that element but the engine bay is super tidy. Car seems to be well sorted and you likely couldn't build if for anywhere near the asking price. My summary:
If you're looking for a ready to go 914, I'd say definitely take a look at this one.

If you're a serious buyer looking for a PPI but can't get to Napa, I can help out with a closer look. PM me if that's of interest.

I always say once an LE, always an LE and this is a perfect example of that. This car is VIN 16716 on the 914 Can Am Registry and has a known history of ownership. My only comment is that the seller and buyer would benefit by getting the PCNA certification confirming its LE Authenticity.

With the new hot engine I would put this in the 'Screamsicle' category.

I agree with Chris' assessment. I met the seller at EASY and looked at his 914. It is a well-sorted 914 and presents well. There are some minor things a new owner could do to take it to the next level, but they are minor indeed. I did not hear it run, he had arrived before we did and we left before he did. The paint is really nice and being it was painted long ago, speaks highly of the prep work as I noticed no flaws. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

For anyone in NorCal area interested in taking a closer look at the car, if the current dry weather forecast holds up, I'm planning to hit the Breakfast Club Rally Prestage Cars and Coffee at the Marin Civic Center from 8 am - 10 am this coming Saturday (3/15).
