It boils to bottom of the oil warms the oil. It came on one my cars and I just dug it up the other day. I wasn’t sure if this was also used or only used on VW air cooled vans or something else. I did a quick search online and used google lens and nothing came up. The bus ones were different. Or it’s from something totally different and the PO rigged something up. Either way it’s kinda neat, I thought I’d share.

Regards,
Jon h.

Hi Jon, if it came on your 914/4 then it would also fit any other type 4 motor like the 411 & 412. Canadian cars do like to use block heaters, so I am not surprised it is made in Canada.

I’ve never seen or heard of one on a 914. Part from a bus motor - maybe?

Electric block/oil heaters used to be fairly common in northern states that got frigid in the winter.

Ah yes……I didn’t think of the 411/412’s. That’s probably what it’s from.
