I recently harvested a thermostat from a 1.8 and there is an angled tab with a threaded hole on the base end. It almost looks like it would mount some sort of shield or tin. Any thoughts?Attached Image

Used to seeing them without the threaded hole for mounting. I think the T4 case has a threaded 6x1.0MM hole for the T-Stat?

Even though this was pulled from a 1.8, maybe it was from something else like a T3?

That thermostat is dead. It has permanently expanded.

If you're looking for a new thermostat, I recently purchased two of them from Awesome Powdercoat. The owner was prompt with responding to inquiries. Out the door with shipping was 327.44 for two. https://www.awesomepowdercoat.com/porsche-thermostats

IIRC, one of the pieces of engine tin has a mounting screw that goes there.

Not sure which version of the tin, though. (1.7 early vs. 1.7 late vs. 2.0 versus 75-76)

I know there at least two brackets styles.
This is from Jeff's Tech Notebook.
