All,

I have Dr. Evils excellent videos, and in the Disk 1, Episode 10 he reviewed the 3 thrust washers, there is Fat-thin, Thin-Fat and Thin-Thin. JUST as he starts to tell you which one goes where, there is a scene edit.........I am in suspense. What is the answer?!?!?

I looked at the Shop manual, and various other web sites and could not find a definitive answer - any assistance would be awesome!

in the picture are the two thrust washers in question - HELP! DO I need to swap the two?

Great to hear from you Super!

The factory manual does not differentiate between the thickness, there are 2 different thicknesses, which is on the 2nd gear side and which is on the first gear side?

Both are beveled, cannot tell from picture which one it is

Attached are pictures out of my 901 manual showing the washer behind 1st gear is 3mm and behind 2nd gear 6.6mm. The manual is for the al case 901 but I've worked on mag case 911s and 914s and don't remember them being different.Attached Image

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the 901 service manual as a separate entity. Nice clear cross section diagrams of the gear stack!
