I am collecting parts to do a five (5) lug conversion on my 1970 Porsche 914-4. I have a set of rear hubs which have had the five new studs installed, and I am wondering what rear rotors to use.
Can I just buy a pair of rear rotors for a 914-6 and use them with my existing rear brake calipers? Or do I need to get my existing 4 lug rear rotors drilled to fit over the five lug rear hubs? I am trying to avoid having to replace my existing rear calipers (from a 4 cylinder car) with a set of calipers from a 914-6. Thanks. I know a lot of people have done this conversion so they can run the Porsche 911 style Fuchs wheels, which is what I am planning on doing. My car is an early build, having been built in December 1969, if that makes any difference. |

You can find a machine shop to convert the ones you have or if want new ones PMB sells them already drilled. |

Both options will work.
The Six rear rotors may rub a little on the caliper bridge as they seem to be very very slightly larger in diameter than the four ones. (Or were last I looked into this. Been quite a while.) Sometimes there's no rub, and often loosening the caliper mount bolts and pushing outward on the caliper body while tightening the bolts has worked for others. --DD |
