914-6, 1970 - all original

All,

I refurbed a '74 and noticed that there were a few different selections for cables accelerator, clutch,

Does anyone have a strong opinion as to which cable to use for a 914-6 for accel and clutch? I was not to happy with the accelerator for the '74, seemed a bit cheep -- perhaps original spec, however, reminded me of my old go-cart accelerator cable.........seems to work ok, just sayn..... Advise is requested please: many thanks for your experiences in advance.

At one point the -6 cable was more heavy duty because of 6 spring disc . I did a comparison awhile back and found they were about the same for both cars. HOWEVER there was a lot of DIFFERENCE in cable length between manufactures.

Just bought and installed throttle and clutch cables from this guy

https://www.ebay.com/str/dxrautomotive

Very pleased. Throttle appeared NOS clutch was GEMO. German company. Liked the lengths.

The original Six throttle cable is a different length from the four-cylinder version, because the throttle linkage is quite different. The Six one has to go to the bellcrank back on the transmission, rather than curving up to the single throttle body on the four-cylinder cars.
