Only 914 at the show (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
And one from Downtown Auburn after the show. when leaving we saw a young man taking photos of the car. Had a nice conversation. He was just getting into using old school film cameras. Nice to see the youth enjoying the automotive passion. |

Looking good! Thanks! I too painted it with rattle cans. RustOleum Gloss Grape. Covered by 3 coats of 2K clear also out of rattle cans. Wet sanded and buffed. First time doing body / paint. I would say I am 90% happy with it. I could have taken more time wet sanding and polishing but weather was changing and I was rushing to get it done. I have had the car over 15 years and this iteration is by far catching the most attention and garnering the most comments. People love it and comment on how clean and garage kept it looks. Still a lot of details to dial in once it warms up but so far I am loving it. I went with the color as it suited the 70's pastel like funky color of the times. Added the side stripes and a passenger mirror. I also used rivnuts for every exterior connecting hardware (running boards, front and rear valences, carpet trim strips, license plates, etc) now all are the same tool to remove / install. After 50 years of maintenance the existing hardware was a mishmash mess. The other thing I did to make my life easier was to add wiring harness plugs to each turn signal /brake light. No more what wire goes to what tab. Unplug the harness and can plug it right back in. No guessing, no mistakes. Will make future work so much nicer. |
