The '72 I had used a 'fasten seat belt' dash light unit that had a singular long-ish electrical input on the back. That car had NO under-seat crap, and I was able to hook it up and have it operate as it should .

I'm replacing this missing light fixture to the dash of my '73 project and the extra one I have (from a '74) has two male spade connectors on the back. This '73 also has NO under-seat crap, and I'd like to hook it up to work also if possible.

When did Porsche switch to this two wire connection on the back of the fixture? and, I think the wires should be Yellow/Red and a Brown (verify), but there is no +/- markings, does it matter which wire plugs to which spade? TIA.

72-73 had the 4 pole light, 74-76 had the 2 pole light.

They are not interchangable. Find the right light for your 73.

Thanks for setting me straight on that Jeff.. I actually have one of those 4 post fixtures. It's a part from a full restore I'm gonna be doing on a '72 soon - think I'll steal it and look for another later.
