Good afternoon.

I have a new Dansk gas tank (installed) for the pumpkin (1970 4 cyc). Got it installed and plumbed, ready to put evap chamber (I think that what it is called, goes around filler neck.) The damn thing won't fit. Seems brackets on tank are not right! I have attached a couple of pic.

Any thoughts or ideas about what to do to get it installed?

Thanks

Others may know more but I recall something about the flange height being taller than the original

I have read that some where on this forum.

My question is I guess is how the heck to fix it.

I am not a metal fabricator or welder. I do have a friend that can help me just need to know what to do to it.

Thanks

I used a scrap piece of rubber beneath the plastic bridge. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I have shimmed the the bridge and that is fine now. not so much getting the expansion tank to fit.

My bad. I didn't take that into consideration as I 86'd the xTank with the Subaru conversion.

Do you have the other bolt for the expansion tank installed?
I have had to bend the brackets on every Dansk tank in have installed. One member had one with the filler hole off by a half inch. Loosen or remove the other enpsnsoin tank bolt. I stall a bolt on tbe end closest to the hold down strap. Try to bend it down amto align the other hole.

Depending on where the welds are on the seam there, you might be able to file down the flange enough to get everything to fit...

Does it rub on the top of the tank? I'd make a bracket to bolt to both parts and paint it black. I hope that doesn't mean the top of the tank rubs the hood

It does but maybe tank is not far enough down. Going to check with my borescope this morning. Got the evap chamber and fuel filler to all line up but it sits to high.

Had the same problem with getting the tank to sot low enough.
If the seam is taller on the sides it is probably hitting the bottom of the groove in the rubber blocks.

Check and see. You can grind it down with an angle grinder.
Dont go lower then the spot welds.
