Just popped up on PCAR Market auction site.

https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1970-por...l%20blast%20car

Anybody here do this conversion / know of it / seen it, etc,?

Q: where is the cooling air coming from for the radiator? Fog light grill openings?

Fog light grills. Pretty clean.

I was under the impression that a Boxster engine required some cutting to fit?

I thought the engine hit the suspension. Has the internet has lied to us? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

You also can't turbo a 914.

I didn’t like the way the car sounded in the driving video. It was more of a wine than a growl. For years now, I thought about putting a modern drive train in a 914 would make it better and maybe it’s my age, but I think it’s a waste of effort and $$. My new focus is on the car Eric is building with the electronic suspension.

This car sold on BAT on 12/10/2025...

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-porsche-914-40-2/

The photos from the pcar auction are the exact same photos as the BAT auction. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

*EDIT*
Looks like the seller replied and said "The winning bidder never closed the deal..." - My cynical ass thinks the 'winning bidder' is a shill bidder who didn't expect to win.

The engine sits pretty low possibly to make the clearance on the suspension ears. I would hate to meet a high spot in the road with the way those coolant lines are routed.
Look at the scrapes on the headers already with how high the car is sitting.

Looks like a clean conversion and agree with others. Drive train sits very low. Still a cool conversion.

I was thinking the exact same thing, one really tall speed bump and buh-bye coolant lines. Everything else is so tidy, I'm surprised they didn't tuck the coolant lines in the rockers.

That seems like a bargain for 20k. Clean car too. Sure there are some tweaks to make it perfect but I bet you couldn't build that car for 35k

Am I the only one cynical and jaded that assumes the shills on BAT are probably the sellers buddy(s) that bids it up hoping that an actual sucker (I mean buyer) steps in at the closing moment before the hammer falls?
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I’m sure nothing like that would happen (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

So, how exactly is the air supposed to reach that front radiator? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
Only option I can see are the fog light grills but that seems like a very tortuous path and fairly small openings, although this is a 2.5l not a large V8. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

You are not alone here. I assumed the exact same thing. If the seller really had a buyer blackout, why wouldn't he re-list it on BAT? I think a shill got caught holding the bag and the seller thought they would get more for the car. Sooo many cars that dont sell on BAT end up on P-Car or Cars and Bids. Its a shame because both of those sites used to be really awesome.
