I received an email from 914 Rubber earlier in the week that the Front & Rear Bumper Top kit was back in stock (I requested an in-stock notification months ago). I went to the site this morning and discovered that they are out-of-stock again already (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) .
I called 914 Rubber after checking the site just to confirm the stock status (yes, out-of-stock), and to also ask if these bumper tops were from the new mold that 914 Rubber was making. The sales agent said she was pretty sure these were from the new mold, but I forgot to ask when the stock will be replenished. Question - did anyone here happen to purchase a pair of these this week, and if so, any feedback on the fit and finish? IIRC, there were some complaints about the pieces from the previous molds, which is why a new mold was created. Thanks, Frank |

Also curious if they have been improved. Last set I bought from them stuck out on the ends really bad. I ended up using Autoatlanta instead. Fitment was way better.

D'oh, I pre-ordered and then received my 914Rubber bumper tops several years ago in February 2020 and they are still in the box. I should be ready to install the bumper tops within the year. Would these bumper top versions be ill fitting as well? Ken |

I’m in a similar situation, having ordered several years ago but just a few weeks ago having reached the point of being able to test fit them to the restored body. The rear bumper top fits well but, no matter what I try, the front bumper top sticks out on the right side.

If you do a search, there was some workarounds for the ends sticking out. Put washers under the studs on the ends and worse case drill holes in your bumper and use sheet metal screws to pull the ends in. Washers didn’t help my situation and I wasn’t going to drill holes in my bumper.

Just worked on installing a brand new 914Rubber bumper top on my early painted bumper. Unfortunatley the ends stick out on the sides.
Not sure if the early bumper has a different shape than a later bumper. I ended up cutting away some rubber. That helped but it was still sticking out. I then glued the rubber to ther bumper end clamped the fix. It will be next weekend when I see if it worked. It'd sure be nice if things where just bolt and play. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thisthreadisworthlesswithoutpics.gif) Show us what the issue is. Where is the cap sticking out? Did you just purchase this top from current inventory? Looks like 914Rubber stocks the front but no rear. @Matty900 |

They were out of stock and 914Rubber sent me a notice that the front bumper tops were were back in stock, so I ordered one. I asume it was new stock.
Sadly, the Super 3m trim adhesive wasn't strong enough so the gluing failed. I'm contemplating black epoxy. I will take pics next weekend. Cutting away some of the inside corner of the rubber helped to bring the sides in but they still stick out some. Putting the car back together with new parts has been an exercise in extreme frustration-it's the exception when a part fits well enough so that it doesn't have to be modified. I wish we had a handy guide to whose supplier's parts fit best for a specific application. |

Here are some pics from my test fit this summer. The bumper has never been bent. This is the left side showing perfect fitment. Notice that the line of the bumper top is straight with the edge of the bumper and it fits nicely on the top of the bumper.
![]() This is the right side, not fitting well. It does not seat correctly on the top of the bumper, which causes the line not to be straight and for the edge to stick out past the side of the bumper. ![]() I thought maybe the material of the bumper top was causing interference so I relieved some of the rubber material as shown below, but it didn't help. ![]() I'm not sure if I'll drill a hole or two and use the screw method or attempt the glue method. I'm going to have the bumper chromed so I'm leaning toward the screw method so I know it will fit properly before taking the bumper for chroming. But I'd rather not be drilling holes in the bumper. |

Since 914 rubber hasn't said the problem is fixed with a new mold, chances are it's the same mold with the same issues. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

No body or bumper damage. I purchased this bumper top in, I think,
about 2020 but didn’t test fit it until this summer (was too busy doing rust repair on the chassis to test fit parts). |
