Thanks |

I kinda have a mental problem with hood pins. Betty once described them as "nipple rings for cars". So now when I see them I think "Ow!" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pinch.gif)

We went with only 2 pins instead of 4 pins due to weight.
thats why my car doesn't have the front pins in the normal "corner" area. We decided to use the normal corner area, you really would need to have 4 pins. but.... since we were only going to have 2 pins, then frontal air sneaking under the front lip would be the most important area to have pinned. thus we went with the non-traditional location. brant |

I have the same ones as Brant and also only used two, but in my case not really due to weight (the car still has steel lids so it's not like a few grams will help much). Currently I have left the stock latch in place so the pins are just an extra safety measure i.e. in case the car gets bumped or tweaked and the latch pops. Plus they look kinda cool. Mine are like the factory originals, I went with 4 to keep the hood down tight at speed. I plan on making rectangular scratch plates when I get the car back from being painted. (Soon I'm told). Since my decks are both fiberglass I figure I will have to rivet the plates since screws won't last long. I hope to be able to post pics in the near future. JP, did you screw your scratch plates?

Kerry- Just saw your post on pins.
Here's a shot of the 'stealth 914' directly from the front. With the pins above the lights and front trunk seal installed.. I got this pucker in the middle and the whole front edge is slightly up (1/8"-3/16") (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) So I made another set of square S.S. scratch plates to put them in the bottom corners too! Otherwise I'll need to do some Bending and Banging! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) to make it fit right. Attached thumbnail(s) |

This shot is kinda cool! You can catch the pin in the corner?
