Drive it whenever it's not pouring outside, and cover it up at work when it looks like it will.
Even showed up at Paul's (URY914) house this past weekend for some idle chit-chat. So what happens? It pours. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif) Attached image(s) |

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but now that run of the mill family sedans are going 0-60 in six seconds, all but the fastest 914's are fairly slow. Fast or slow is a relative term, and sub 200hp 914's are relatively slow.
That being said, I have a ball with my 75p 1.8L bus motor. You feel like you are going fast because you are screaming along at 5000rpm to keep up with a soccer mom with a heavy foot driving a Navigator. If it wasn't for the other cars I'd swear I was hauling ass. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) |

Slow doesn't mean shit....QUICK...now THAT mattrers...and THAT is the difference between our cars and most of their cars...new or old....I rest my case. By the way mine looks lovely and I think it runs well and is kinda fast....now if only I were a more skillful driver.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

Not pretty yet, but running and driveable, still sorting out some items.

Had a fun trouble free summer. Fast enough for me, but I won't drive in the rain.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) Mine still runs, but it has this HUGE dent on the passenger side. More like the passenger side is the dent! All I got to do is change the RR tire and I technically could "drive" mine again. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Yep, this puppy runs just fine. There's always a little something else that I could probably do but I'm confident that I could drive it anywhere and not worry about failures. 175K on the car (engine rebuild to center of spec at 135K). Sees about 2500 miles a year. Don't drive in the rain anymore, but it has seen plenty (hey, it's Oregon) and snow too.

My 2.2T kicks ass, paint is excellent, cardon fiber lids on black paint, with chrome five lug fuchs and '83 SC front suspension. Clutch tube being rewelded and car should be on the road sometime before the snow flys. I will post pictures as soon as I get my baby on the road. Been waiting 3 years. Me either. My cars run, but they're in storage. They CAN be daily drivers, but they're lacking a driver. |
