Hmm...... maybe if I sell my house I could afford a very small garage and that car, we could live there. Our love would sustain us.....

I agree it is one of the very best.

But I'd put a BIG phat wing on it and slam it down.

Is it just me or was it yellow at one time? Check out the flecks on the bottom of the floor where the undercoating is missing....here.

I'll bet they had to put the big engine in it to make up for the speed that was lost when they changed the color from yellow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

I heard that YPAF.

Very Nice indeed, But It still is just like my 914, and built like I do things...

Notice its missing a screw to hold on the door lock mechanism! "Screws, SCREWS, We don't need no stinkin' three screws..." Just like mine. I only noticed becuase my mechanism spring broke last night and I had to dissasemble the door. I wonder what else is missing from that silver beauty? Yes I also noticed the drivers inner wheel well looks like something had happened to it.

It looks to me like added electric fans for the oil cooler. Car show option for doing a lot of slow 4th of July parade like driving? Though when I do a cooler I will add electric fans as well. In the 110 Degree summer heat, the freeway gets pleanty of cool, but the cooler would be useless in town driving without the fans. "Like I would ever take this $38K car out of my garage..." I'll second Bolwsby's comments. Pics don't do this car justice. It's flawless. The owner, Ernie, is also a super nice guy. If only my house would quickly appreciate another $50K. :-)

BTW, how much would a wine and cheese weenie pay for that 3.8L Jerry Woods engine?

3,6L engines have -no- engine mounted oil cooler like earlier 911's did. -all- the oil cooling is done with the front-mounted cooler.

it's easy to say $135k "invested" if you add up all the money ever spent. I've "invested" over $100 in oil filters - $8 at a time... it's also easy to count up things done over and over until you get it right -- how many people go through 3 sets of shocks until they find the package they like? KYB->Tokico->Koni->Bilstein is a typical progression ... all you can really count is what's on the car NOW.

that said i agree it's a really nice car. but if i had $38k to spend on a 914.6, i'd be spending it on mine ...

Put it this way, a picture of that car replaced Estella Warren and Anna Kournakova on my computer desktops six months ago. I think my wife was more comfortable with the half dressed girls than that car, because there were clearly stronger feelings for the car. I felt like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, I clearly had unhealthy feelings for it…. My Precious, Precious Car! It’s mine I tell you…. All Mine! Well, for $38K it could be mine. It doesn't seem right to put a price on something so "Precious".

It's been said here before, "yellow cars are faster". does it still count if it is painted silver over the top?

I remember the car featured in Excellence. Will have to dig that copy up, Just to dream all over again.

This is a clear case of getting wrapped up in a car to the point it sinfull to take it out and "drive it like you stole it."

Try Excellence issue #53 1995, A King's 914-6. I spoke with the owner when originally for sale. I beleive it was around $40K at the time, maybe more. I put it into the perspective of the person who has the funds to purchase this car, has the funds to make or at least start a car that is exactly to there specifications. Allbeit yellow rather than silver, or black rather than yellow, weld in cage rather than bolt in. Etc.
For those of you who have started down the long road to the 914 of your dreams, take from this one soem of the really trick things and add them to your list of must have's. But one thing don't lose sight of what "your" 914 is going to look like.
