Aren't paperweights supposed to be HEAVY? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
If the rods are bad, the crank must be bad too.. I'll take the crank! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) |

Maybe if Bill decides the rods can go we will do our own Ebay type bidding.. and Ill donate the money to a childrens charity or something on behalf of 914 owners that are crazy enough to buy parts that are being sold as no good (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chairfall.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

Wait wait, motorsports sold you a bad rod? The RS motors on the Le Mans circuit are all sealed motors. If there is a problem with the rods, all the sealed Le Mans motors that come from PMNA are bad... things dont add up.
I think i'm reading this wrong (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) |

Yes Matt your reading this wrong We work on some GT3Rs and we own LeMans liveried GT3RS ex Racers Group car. And we have rebuilt a number of Supercup engines. PMNA doesnt like privateers to rebuild, and hot rod (wink wink) the engines. We were lucky enough to have a connection that was able to get us replacement connecting rods.. The rods in question didnt "fail" in a catastropic sense, they just dont pass muster to put into service in an engine. The broken crank pics have nothing to do with the rods.. We took that whole broken crank engine and tossed it in the dumpster (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) And when things break on a PMNA or Porsche Motorsports engine... they tell you "vee are sorry but this is racing" there is no quarantee |

Jeroen, the exploded engine I showed, and the connecting rods are two totally seperate issues.
Yes it was painful because the owner of that blown up engine sued, and brought in two highly respected engine builder to to forensics on the engine. One of the experts restores F1 cars.. and the other was a builder that has a few 962 refreshes under his belt.. They looked at the remains of the engine... and gave us a clean bill of health!! nothing we did contributed to that grenade after the report was given to the courts.. we tossed the engine (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) |
