Tomorrow it all starts.
Gonna break it all down and start the body work. I hope to have it DONE by next Friday. Brandon at Altissimo Restoration (707-253-paint) will be doing the bulk of the work. I get to do the disassembly/reassembly, welding, rear flare work, sanding, some sanding and more sanding. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) Car will be factory color light ivory with bright metalic red rally stripes and the 7"steel wheels to match stripes. I'll be filling the side marker and antenna holes. Rear ducktail spoiler will go from black to white and the targa top will be smooth painted with the stripes over the top of both. Any advice? No drawings. Stripes will be W-I-D-E with little pinstripes on each side.
No wheel plans. I need 7's. KT |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/popcorn[1].gif) 1 week?! I've had 2 p-cars stripped and painted. Each took 1 year. If you count lingering electrical issues, figure 2 years each. good luck, but uh, (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/popcorn[1].gif)

IIWM, (but it's not) I'd look into vinyl stripes so they could be removed when I decided I didn't like them any more.

Trekkor,
If you get your car back and completed before I do I am going to be really PO'd. Seriously, good luck with your body and paint work. The paint scheme sounds great! Let's see, that will be two very smooth shiney track cars at GGR events this season. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

Don't count me out, I picked up my AA steel GT flares today and have talked to Mark about welding them on and doing the botox on the AA wrinkles. I have a straight body with one decent dent. I want to smooth the targa top remove the sail panel vinyl, fill in the antenna and side marker holes and have the car painted outside only by season start. So we may have 3 shiny 914's debuting this year.

Very nice. I am beginning to think that I won't have my car ready until the TT#2 or at least the first CDS event at BW.
Cursed body/paint guy is stringing me along. Was supposed to be painted this past weekend. I think that it didn't happen. Oh well, just have to keep thinking about how nice it will be to be all shiney and smooth when I finally get it back. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) One week sounds pretty quick to me too....Unless you are going to be there like 15+ hours per day to help out. Body work, welding holes, flaring fenders, strip paint and prime and paint.....more power to you to get it done Trekkor. |
