I'll be back there by 10:00 this morning.
I hope to fill the holes and S-T-R-E-T-C-H the rear fenders and fit the 225's. Then more sanding...whoopee (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) I'm filling the air inlet grille under the windshield, too. Pics tonight. KT |

KT, can you also list the tools/materials you're using along the way? It will help others that plan to paint their cars.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) -- Rob |

Show pics of the flared car sitting next to yours.
Good luck with the 1 week thing. Hell, I hope you can do it. (you probably won't have any time to do anything else) |

Which one? There's two. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) I met my goals today. I finished all the metal work, stretched the fenders and the 225's are on (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif) KT |

So how did you do the flares? Pie cut with more metal added in, along the top edge?
Let's see some photographs of your progress (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) |

Here's how I stretched the fenders to the limit.
Port-a-Power! I cut a 2x4 with the same profile of the inside of the fender and used hydrolic power to bring the fender lip to 11.25" from the inner fender well. Check this out. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) Attached image(s) |

Do you heat the fenders as you stretch them?

I put a 4x8 along the length of the inner. It didn't seem to deflect at all.
Also hammer and dollied the fender lip flat. Attached image(s) |

Interesting use of hydraulics...jaws of life (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) Did you get any unwanted ripples in the quarter panel after the streeeeetch? |

I was very happy with the results. One of the fasteners that connects to the rocker panel made a pop noise! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)
It shouldn't need to much hammer work at all. The profile looks pretty natural to me. No heat used. KT Attached image(s) |

Looks good from that last pic. Profile looks about what I had on my 914-6 that I could run 225s on 7s with no problems at all. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Bet you didn't need much sanding on your new roof!
Nice work Trekkor - Brandon and Mark are just great; always do what they say. |

Now, on to the metal work! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif)
I filled the channels between the front fenders and the flat section below the winshield. Heres the channel and antenna hole prepped. Attached image(s) |

Yes, Randal, that roof will really add a nice touch to the car. Thanks again! KT Attached image(s) |
