*If* it cracks ( I already got this one covered ) I'll have vinyl pieces made to look like the plastic seals and cover them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

Here's the grille welded...ready for body filler. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif)

Trek,

Did you pound down the vent and weld a piece of sheetmetal on top or cut it out first? Looking good! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

I welded the sheetmetal over the grill after I depressed it slightly. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif)

After making a paper template for fitment, I made the patch out of 18gauge.

I spent a good amount of time using the air powered jitterbug sanding board with 36 grit to get most of this side rough prepped. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t1.gif)

Trekkor,
looks like you are making good headway.

That last stripe looked great. Makes me start to think about some vinyl..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

I took this pic last year at the rained out GGR-TT at Sears.

It has pearl white and metalic stripes.
I think my whole scheme is a subliminal flashback to this car (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif)

That car used to belong to Chuck Davis. It had a 2.7RS motor in it then. That is the motor that is now in Larry Sharp's '74 Carrera.
It has been around our series for many years in several itterations.
I forget who the new owner is, but he still attends most of our TTs. Chuck now has a older 911 chassis with FG 993 body work and a larger twin plug motor...possibly a 3.6L.

Nice car none the less.

Show me a pic of that bug!

Is it an oval or a split?

Must be an oval, judging by the front turn signals. IIRC, splits had semiphores.

Also check sirandys thread on his 3.6 conversion, there is a pic of the rear. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

You caught me, I couldn't leave it alone! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I started the body filler on the antenna hole, washer nozzles and inlet grill.

Put in another 3 hours.

There was this dragster across the street that got my attention.
