QUOTE (Gint @ Feb 1 2006, 09:34 PM)
No offense intended Michael.  I've bought 5 cars (that I remember, might be more) sight unseen and it's bitten me a couple of times.  Not really bad, but bad enough.  You and I don't really know each other well enough for me to know that you're idea of "mint" and mine are the same.  That's all I meant.  These days my preference would really be to see everything I buy for myself.  Live and learn.

Lookin forward to seeing you and Waide again.  I didn't really get much chance to talk to you guys at RRC.  It would appear that Waide made a helluva buy.

Mike - no offense taken. You would be an idiot to buy a car based on my recomendation(Don't tell Waide)

I do mean that. The only reason I told Waide to jump on Howard's car was because Howard had someone do a PPI and he bought it. Even after driving it he felt the car was nice enough to offer to club members without hesitation. I trust Howard's judgement and reputation on this board that he wouldn't be serving up something that he thought was a lemon.

Michael, do me a favor and look. If it runs, drives in a straight line, and isn't a rusted POS, buy it for 3k or less, drive it out, I'll cover your expenses and buy it.

My original plan was to drive Elvira to the BBQ. I guess that plan is back on the table, since Mike and Greg joined the 747Club.com. Steve, you are more than welcome to ride along, or we could have a 2 teener caravan. I do not yet know when I will be able to leave Vegas or when I have to be back.

This is starting to look like a RRC reunion. We need to figure out a way to get 914RS Series9 and the terrorist from Coeur d'Alene to come to the party.

Hey Joe. What is the most teeners you have had in your driveway at one time?
Should we call the Guinness Book people and go for a New Worlds Record?

It was the smart thing to do with the amount of snow the Rockies have been getting this winter. 2 feet forecast in the hills for today/tomorrow.

And all you guys looking for a rusted out POS for $1000, why?? Look at this POS

It's local, I'll go look at it if you want. I'm no expert, but I can drive it and see if it works.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) It's a Zambezi Green Lake Arrowhead car (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif)

Remember Howie, we pack heat in the mountains here. 2 hours from you, 10 minutes from me. Have never seen that car on the mountain.

Thanks John, it's going to be a tough call, 70hp with no sway bars, or 200hp with fully developed suspension. We could even use the car pool lane in CA! My new toy won't be ready by then, so it sounds like a plan. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chatsmiley.gif)

On a rare serious note, PPI's are a favor to the potential buyer and an imposition on the inspector. Any of us can look at a car and express our opinion without ANY WARRANTY IMPLIED. If a car craps out because of something the inspector missed, tough stuff.

Hell, I didn't do a compression test or pull the rockers on Waide's car. I am not a mechanic, but drove it and liked it. I'm sure Ron is in the same boat with Mike's car.

If you get here and don't like the car(s) you can always back out.

Yeah... I don't play that game. I knew what I was getting into before I started. I'm a big boy. Buying any used old car is a risk. I've been at both ends of that risk.

You roll the dice and you take your chances. But I sure as hell won't blame Ron if the thing takes a dump in BFE AZ ( (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/poke.gif) ) somewhere.

Where'd all this crap come from anyway? You're givin me a serious downer on my new car buzz.

The biggest single problem with BFE AZ is not the lack of shade, it is not the lack of water, it IS the lack of cellphone coverage.
