You didn't know about this until now? It's been in all the car magazines for a couple of years. (Road & Track, Car & Driver). It's a modern update of the GT-40 of 30+ years ago.
A suite car, I might add. |

I guess we have to give Lawrence a break he's in Kansas...you know Toto, Dorthy and all that.
On the other hand the GT40 have been around since the mid to late 60s. There are 3 kit car manufactures that make copies...it's was on the front of car magazines for three months this year. Ever hear of the Frod that beat Ferarri...this is it. Now the factory will be making a retro of it to hit the streets in 2005. You really need to get out more. |

Very Sweet.
I also heard of an outfit in Texas that is building some Shelby authorized Shebly Cobra replicas based on the "Gone in 60 Seconds" car. About $130,000 is the ticket to ride. |

Yep the Car's name in th movie was Elenore. The company has advertized in the Dupont Regestry. For the price the retro GT40 would be the ticket and 30K less. A new GT40 or someone finds a 67-68 Mustang Fastback and redoes it. If you've ever seen a GT40 it is a site. I have seen chassis #1 (the prototype) by Eric Brock the designer.

Yea, back in 1962 Ford was going to buy into Ferrari. Things were good until Ford started talking on how THEY wanted to run the racing division. That's when Ferrari said "See Ya Latter, Much Latter". Henry 2 got so pissed off he wanted to beat Ferrari at his own game (the racing part). After a little fine tuning in 1966 Ford won Le Man's 1st,2nd,3rd (Porsche came in 4th,5th,6th & 7th). Then won LeMan's in 67,68,69 four years straight! The Europeans got so pissed they changed the rules in 1970 so the GT's could'nt race in LeMan's. And that's the rest of the story.

QUOTE You didn't know about this until now? It's been in all the car magazines for a couple of years. (Road & Track, Car & Driver). It's a modern update of the GT-40 of 30+ years ago. No, I didn't know about this. I get three magazines: Panorama, Excellence, and Dive Training. Seriously - I don't know jack about any other car than a 914. My father grew up working in HIS dad's Texaco service station (back when they did major maintenance at your corner shop). But none of that was passed down to me. I didn't grow up working on Bugs, or street rodding cars, or anything else. I first changed my own oil when I was 21. I started turning my own wrenches after a shop outside of Tacoma Washington soaked me almost 500 dollars to rebuild a pedal cluster (which didn't fix the problem). I didn't even get kissed first. -Rusty (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) p.s. People talk about their dream cars. My dream car is my grandfather's WWII jeep, that was repainted black/red with lots of exposed plain aluminum, wooden bumpers, with a huge Texaco emblem on the side. He bought it surplus (after coming home from War in the Phillipines) and used it at his service station for many years. My father has the jeep now, and hopefully someday I'll get it. |

I was lucky enough to see most of the original surviving GT40's at Laguna Seca this year and got some fantastic pictures. Was impressive to see them on the track.

I used to buy-sell vintage guitars, watches, and Shelby stuff for a living, mostly living in Florida.
I once owned most of a motor from an original GT-40, and once a rare factory hi-rise intake that I bought a near mint '66 fastback with. I wish I had that car again, T5 Export, 200/6, A/C, Pony... you could drive it 100 miles on fumes. I traded it for a... 914 M |

Guess you don't understand things very well. I was referencing the post above about the movie where I said "Yep the Car's name in th movie was Elenore. " The car was baised on the Shelby '68 GT500 look. Then I commented that for the price they wanted for the repro Elenor 130K, I'd rather have the retro GT40 at 100K. If your going to comment then know what someone is refering to before you post.
