need to setup the car.
thinking about -2 deg camber front and rear with 1/16 toe out to help turn in and standard castor setting. Is this a good place to start? thanks, david (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Sounds like a pretty good place to start - IF you can squeeze 2.0 degrees in the front. Seems most cannot.
I think common practice is to dial in all the castor you can. I could only get 1.4 degrees neg camber on one of my front wheels, so we set them both at 1.4. In the back, we were able to get -2.0 degrees. I set 1/16" toe-in for the rear, and 1/16" toe-out up front. Since all of these settings were originally very far off the mark, it made a DRASTIC improvement in handling. I haven't felt the need to change anything yet. We also lowered the car 2" at the time, so that may have helped a bit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Just wanted to add that my car is setup for autocross. It also has 180# rear springs, 22mm front swaybar and koni adjustables set on firm. These settings may not translate into an advantageous setup for track.

Cut the front strut towers and the upper camber plates (we have to do it to ALL tubs) Amount of Camber all comes to down what tires your running. Radial slicks like some negative camber. Cantilever slicks like almost no negative camber. Hoosier road race tires repsond nicely to negative camber.
Tell us what tires you plan to run. Oh.. I normally set the cars up with more negative in the right front (our tracks are mostly left hand turns) set them up to go left. B |

I understand about cutting the shock tower sheet metal towards the inside. Did you mean that you also trim the upper strut mount? I didn't think that was required if you run the tarret or some other rigid mount. We are not permitted to run Hoosiers but Kumho VR are allowed. I think the Kumho's will like -2deg camber. david |
