Thanks! Some coincidence; my wife really likes the color too! I like the color because it is reminiscent of the Gulf Blue in the 917! Maybe I'll add to some orange accents somewhere! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Too bad you're not driving this car to the PH swapmeet. Would've loved to see it in person. You'd have a crowd gathered around your car for sure.

Thanks. Yep, I'd like to have it for the PH swapmeet too and especially for WCC06 but that may not be in the cards either since I want to drive it locally for a while to "break it in" and tweak it where it needs tweaking before I was to make the drive up to God's country. It now appears I won't be able to make it to WCC considering today was the last day to get in registrations and as much as I'd like to go it wouldn't be the same without a 914 of some sort to drive.

I will DEFINITELY have it for the Ventura German AutoFest in September and the 914 ramble at T'hill in October!

Great! There's still a chance then! I'm trying to get it done by 6/22 but there is no guarantee this far out.

Just an update for those who have been asking questions on the status of my conversion.

The 914aru just got out of repaint last week; some new pics attached. Pics are also on my blog which also has some pic comments and a fairly comprehensive build list for those interested. The car should be ready for delivery by mid-July; sure will miss taking it to WCC! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Hope you all take a lot of pictures for those who could not attend!

PS Looking for ideas for some Gulf orange highlights to go along with the almost Gulf blue paint. Anyone with ideas chime in.

Looking very nice Tom.

Will be interested in seeing the engine install.

Is the motor a stock WRX or has the brain been chipped or the wastegate been shimmed?

Thanks Dan.
Its a totally stock engine; not planning on messing with the brain/turbo until I get some miles under my belt. Renegade is estimating it at 250hp currently and that's plenty (for me anyway) for the time being. My neighbor knows of a Subie tuner I may be working with after a while. Since we're in the same neighborhood, we'll have to get together after I pick it up and you can check it out in detail. Felix is interested in checking it out closer too.

Tom

If you don't mind my asking minus the purchase of the car, what is total cost to convert out the door from Renegade, I have seen the kit price not including labor. But total w/motor, labor the whole deal??? After watching the burnout video on Renegade's site, who wouldn't want that if they had the $$$. Maybe i could take a second out on the house,HEHE , (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) That is going to blow some minds. Get stock in a tire company. Have fun with it.

Hi Dave:
Grant asked the same question in an earlier post on this thread. Renegade is quoting $20K but that may go up/down based on the condition of the donor and "while you're in there" stuff. Mine cost a little more than that since I had the tranny rebuilt etc. Some, like Grant, think $20K is somewhat high but it works for a non-mechanic like me for the many reasons already enumerated in my responses to him above. For me, there is just something inescapable about the logic of a modern, somewhat lighter, higher horsepower engine in a classic, light, mid-engine platform. Definitely looking forward to getting my mitts on it!

Nice car Tom, nothing wrong with paying a fair price for a modern reliable powerplant in a unique car! I'm way way over that for my modern version...

Since I haven't found the RH V8 kit a "plug and play", having them install it is a smart thing. They can't complain about any miss-fits. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) J/K, I'll bet they developed a better kit for the Suby. Are those flares added or metal worked?

Hi Felix!
The flares are metal worked; didn't need much for the 7's.
