I haven't opened up a speedometer, only seen pictures.

Since the reading is ******* by title, I want to reset it to 0, can you roll them by hand?

Yupper, you sure can. Take it apart & it becomes quite easy. I was surprised at how easy they are to dismantle & roll'm back.
Just play with it (the speedo) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) & you'll see what ya gotta do.

Hook up a drill to the other end of the speedo cable. Forward on the drill reverses the mileage UNLESS the cable attaches on the passenger side. Then reverse on the drill lowers the mileage. GOT IT ??

I used this method for my bug speedo (which attaches to driver's front wheel, thus, I use FORWARD on the drill to lower the miles). Mine had 4K showing, so lowering the miles was quickest.

Oh.... DON'T use a cordless drill (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
