Minnesota, been there once, and only once, ya it was cold. For a screen shot hit the print screen (prt scr) key on the key board. Open a program ie:word and hit paste. It will paste a pic of the entire screen that you see. Let me know I should be free the last weekend in June. I am planning on going to the Car show in Fleetwood( deutsch classic) in July also.

They are out of order (dunno why). 1 is the explanation of the first error, 2 is the first screen error I get on start up, 3, is the preamble to screen 1.

If XP is trying to install some weird driver for the MS, then just disable the Plug and play service and reboot. It won't try after that.
Where did you get the trigger wheel? |

It's times like this when I lug an old desktop with REAL serial COM ports out to where I'm working. On my laptop, I bought a PCMCIA card with working serial communications to work around an issue where I needed a COM port but had none.
Good luck to you. BTW, my PCMCIA serial card is a SOCKET brand. Since then, I have aquired an old ruggedized Itronix laptop with a real serial COM port. It can only run up to Win98. |

XP may be the problem as it can't talk directly to the hardware ports.
I heard that somewhere. |

Alrighty,
I am back on this until I start school again on the 14th. I am attempting to consolidate some other threads that I started that are a bit of a repeat but are more direct int their questioning. Thank you all for your continued help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Thanks for the computer, Dan! I hope it works, I'll know today I hope. Success! It took a looooooong time to get the Java and MJLJ files loaded onto the win98 computer lent to me by Dan, but as soon as I got it loaded and hooked up my box I got to see something that I had yet to see, IT GOT CONFIG! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
And now, it is time to get hot on a starter table using all of the excellent info provided by you all. Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) |

Mike,
Windows XP and 2000 don't let most applications (Java one of them) interact directly with the hardware. Usually it must be a program written to take advantage of DirectX or call specific APIs to allow direct hardware access. Ask skliney for alot more info. Basically for programs that need a serial or COM interface, win95/98/ME is the way to go. |

So now I that I have had more time to digest the info provided I have come up with a few base curves based on the curves in the charts I posted. Thanks Tim for pointing out that the two first curves were of dizzy RPM. this made things a bit easire to understand.
All are at 100kpa (atmosphereic) pressure. 77 S: RPM - 900, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2400, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000 Adv - 0, 0, 4, 14, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 78 SC: RPM - 900, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2400, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000 Adv - 0, 0, 4, 10, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 2.4-2.7 except Carrera: RPM - 500, 1200, 2000, 2400, 4000, 5000, 6000 Adv - 5, 5, 20, 24, 28, 32, 35 So, which one do ya'll think I should build from? This is a stopping point for what I have learned thus far. |

Mike,
Here's an idea for getting vacuum readings on the advance side: Put a "T" fitting between the intake manifold and vacuum advance line, run one to the dizzy advance other to a vacuum meter (guage?). As you increase in RPMs, the vacuum will change. Then you can know what the vacuum is at redline (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Brando, I was considering that, but was hoping for an easier way than buying a vac gauge.
Jeff, that is interesting. I know very little about the 911 world and its designations. Does SC = Carrera? Are any of my curves for a Carrera? My Haynes manual for the 911 doesnt even really cover in detail any of the specs for 911s newer than 73 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |
