I just knew that someone wanted to know,how the strap is attached.
It is bolted on to the inner latch using a 4-40 x 1/2" long stainless,phillips head screw. Start by drilling an access hole adjacent to the latch underneath. I hope the pics are in order. Ron Attached thumbnail(s) |

so you tack welded a tab onto the inner frame of the latch to put your screw into? there is nothing below the inside screw (pics 1 & 2 ) to attach that strap to. at least nothing with a surface that the screw you are showing could grip to.

The pull strap is attached with a 4-40 screw to the latch,using the the hole that is now vacant,when the latch rod was removed.No drilling,No welding. R |
