Finally took the car in for an alignment this morning and noticed that when I brake fairly hard I will hear a clunk from the rear as I let off the brakes. I know there is still alot of air in the system and that will be dealt with during the alignment.
Could air in the system cause this? |

Are you sure the "clunk" wasn't the loose nut behind the wheel?
1.) Calipers tight? 2.) CVs tight? 3.) Trailing arm bolts tight? (Remember pops-in-law likes to take things apart) 4.) Dead body in the trunk? 5.) Do you trust your alignment man to tighten all the bolts...It is Bakertucky afterall.....look for bailing wire. 6.) Lug bolts tight? Ok, I'm done for now............ |

Everything is tight.
I went back and re-checked everything. I'm pretty sure anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

Ok, I know you putzed with the CVs, rear wheel bearings, front shit with your 5 lug conversion.
Put it back on jackstands (where it should be anyway) and jerk |

Why are you driving the car if there is still air in the brake system? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

Why are you driving the car if there is still air in the brake system? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) Cause I couldn't get it all out with "Dad" helping and the shop is only 2 miles away on empty farm roads. I still had enough pressure to lock the fronts up... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) I AM STUPID I AM STUPID I AM STUPID I AM STUPID I AM STUPID!!!!!
Being that the clunk is gone I am pretty sure that I learned a valuble lesson today. If you have 2 strut inserts in your rear trunk against the rear panel with a box of crap in front of them, when you stomp on the brakes, inertia will cause them to move forward, and when you let off the brakes they will return to their original location and cause a clunk...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) Poke me now please. |
