Mr Hussey, The 800 may be available for ordering but if you have a problem with the parts you recieve or a cust service issue you are told to use the 770 number. Now I have only ordered once and when I called I needed a sheetmetal piece to repair the outer supension pickup point. I described what I needed to one of your staff and he said I know exactly what I needed. So I paid, got the part in a reasonable time. Now here is wher the fun starts. First when opening the package mixed in w/ the packing newspapers are two of those paper hot dog wrappers /holders w/ dried chili on them. Second the part was the console w/ the inner pickup point. Called and got a RA number and told them about the wrappers and was told it couldn't be from us all our guys are vegatarians. Shipped back using UPS. Waited to see credit back on my card. Time passed and no credit so I called. At this time I was told that you all had not recieved it back. Called the store that I shipped it from, got the tracking #, tracked the package, and called again gave the info that it was recieved and by who. The next words were "Oh the guys are bad about letting us know about returns". Also in this blame was placed on UPS for the wrappers and some of the problems. This happend in 1999 and is still pretty fresh in my mind. BTW I have worked in the cust service industry most of my career w/ a majority of that dealing with auto parts and service. Sounds like the guys assumed what part you needed as they sell so many of the right inner consoles (we of course manfacture them and have over 300 currently in stock) Of course you know what "assume" does. That darned right outer suspension piece is not available except with the whole 1900.00 inner wheel house and it is something we are planning on making but for now have to cut from the limited number of cars that have a good one (obviously we have many many left ones!) We do have many many packages coming in and out but if we had listened to what you were saying and sent you the right part to begin with the return would not have been an issue. Mia is very up on instant credits for core charges and the few returns we get (thank god this is not a woman's clothing mail order house!) By the way, I do not know who the vegitarians are, here, as real men eat meat! How about some tech questions? |

For those of you here who are new to the 914, I would recommend you get a copy of 700 Tech Tips. It is full of relavent information for the 914 and it will answer alot of questions you might have as to "what the fuck is wrong with this piece of shit"
Jon Lowe when he was 914 Tech for the Porsche Club of America carried a copy of 700 Tech tips with him everywhere he went. That is where I first learned about the book. CCLINCAMPOUT2007 |

George...this is a tuff room. Better response would be...yeah, we have had some morons on staff and they are gone or have been advised to change their attitude. If anyone has a RECENT issue, please come directly to me....THAT would probably convince some people to try use your company for parts....too many horror stories out there to convince anyone else otherwise. The only other company that has a worse rep on the internet than yours is Motor Meister and to some extent, Dave B from MS Road and Rape...err Race.......do a search on them and over on Pelican Parts..... Yes, I know...one hears the bad stuff and no one hears the good stuff....but one pissed off customer can screw up ten good touchy feely stories. You are certainly right on with that comment! I feel that everyone should be able to vent to me for even something that happened thirty years ago if that incident is still on their mind! How about those tech questions (to change the subject!!!) |

How about those tech questions (to change the subject!!!) George, I was just going to bring that up. I've noticed that ALL of your posts have been in this thread. However, if you were to wander around outside of this post, you will see numerous technical questions being posed by different members of this group. You should get out there and enter the fray. And, welcome. |

QUOTE(dr914@autoatlanta.com @ Jan 4 2007, 09:29 AM) Pink 914 thread[/url] That was always the code for the paint to sample, so if someone had a color they really loved, the factory would paint the 914 to that paint sample. Therefore some chick ordered her pink 914 back then!! Really neat and unique to have one! We have seem some crazy original paint purples as well! |

If i recall correctly, there were at least 3 pink 98 cars with almost sequential Vin numbers. That would indicate some intentional involvement of Porsche. Misha |

That was a 911 color which was not paint to match! I remember fondly my 1973 aubergine 911t targa! I was writing about some horrendous but delightful grape paint to match purples!!!!! NOT that beautiful beautiful Aubergine!!! (I even like sepia brown on 914s!) |

It would not look out of place that is for sure. |
