What tire size should I go for on my 16x6" fuchs?
I'm thinking either 205/55/16 or 205/50/16 would be good...any input would be great.
Also, any suggestions on good tires...should I go all out w/ some S-03's or go cheaper w/ some Yoko's or Kumho's? Thanks again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm running 205/55 SO3's. I kept the diamerter of the wheels the same as a stock car so my gearing doesn't change for highway cruising. I'm not tracing/racing my car either.

It mainly depends on whether you want to keep your effective gearing and ride close to stock, or not.

A ton of 911SC and 3.2 Carrera cars used the 16x6 wheels with 205/55R16 rubber (on the front). That is a great setup for sporty street use, and there is a pretty large selection of tires in that size.

I was running 205/55/16's on my first 914 with 16x7 Phonedials, but I didn't like the gearing (same OD as a 225/50/16 that I had on the rear with 8's)

My next 914 had 7's (Phonedials again) on all four corners and I ran 205/50/16 Kuhmo 712's.

I currently have the 712's (225/45/17's) on my Volvo S70 T5 and I have taken this car to ThunderHill and they held up very well for such a heavy car.

My 911 C2 (wrecked) has 712's as well (much wider)...the rear passanger tire blew out and I still don't know if I'll replace the <5000mile tires with anouther brand or not, if I do get all new tires, the S-03's will be my new choice.

Thanks for all the info guys.
What would be the main effect on gearing, aside from running a little higher RPM at highway speed?
Will the extra bit of tire to absorb bumps on a mighty stiff setup? I seem to be leaning toward 55-series for some reason,

When I bought my 1973 2.0, there was four 205/60x15 Michelin MXV tires on stock 5.5 alloy wheels.

The first think I thought was "it looks like a balloon". I also noticed a lot of road imperfections in the steering wheel. So, a friend of mine told me that the feeling of his 912 was absolutely better when he put OEM tires, 165/80x15 Michelin XZX.

So I decided to reduce my tire width and increase the height to make them less directive. I choose 185/65x15 that is only 4% circumference shorter than original 165/80x15...

In fact I wanted 185/70x15 but cannot find any (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Wanting to go 205/50-15 all around. also toying with 195/50-15 in front. Slam it so low that the cow catcher air dam doesn't have a chance in hell.

currently have 205/60-15 rear and 195/60-15 in front. Dunlop D60 Lots of side wall flex and can roll the tire over to the outside edge pretty easily with my stiff suspension.

I have 225 50 16's all around.. To keep the hight the same, I think you need 55 series.. But I would go with 50.

Talk about a thread resurection. I ended up going with the 55 series and the gearing and proper speedo are nice. Does look like I'm ridin' tall compared with the other locals running 50 series. I'll trade the high look for a nice lower rpm cruise on the highway and the extra gearing for those fun-run flybys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

Those look better than I expected! I am having a difficult time finding the look & tire size I want. I have 993 17x7's, Fuch 15x6, but it just isn't the techy/stealth look I am after. I am thinking about the 928 flat wheel? Any one with pictures of those on a 914? I think flat side might be cool, with everyone else dished. Also with no flares it works, salt flats, flat side?

see if there is still an ad in the classifieds for set of 16x6 flat wheels off of a 964.

they guy mentions he is running the same set on his car and has pictures available upon request.
