To elaborate on the EZ wiring harness....it was CHEAP and it was all there and they (manufacturer) were very helpful but I am afraid that is all I can offer....I had to modify it a bit as it is designed for the hotrods (front engine). BUT if I did it right which as a non electrical guru I would say I have a 90% or better chance that it is goinna work. it was well woth it and it is CLEAN and all new (AKA no OWI old wire issues)
ALSO to be noted...I cannot imagine trying to do this new harness for a factory car with all the goodies that came stock....This has basic lights and wipers and gauges nothing more. |

I'm doing the same thing in the Healey right now! I have the 12 curcuit and had to add one for the electric cooling fan. But it was cheap and it's new. Nice project! OK so I am one tired SOB!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yawn.gif) It has been 3 days of nonstop nonsense! BUT the plus side is that for all intents and purposes I am done with the mechanical BS. Things left to do are add oil (anyone know how much??? add gas add battery (hope there are no zap zap EEeewwww what the hell is burnin?) add spark plugs and add the oil tank to case breather hose.......
Because I want to be sure of running state before I leave Thursday for a 10 day ski VACA and before I put BEAUtiful paint on..... So tomorrow I shall........... Source a oil hose.....install......... Set timing and verify plug order on my new age fandangled HPX crankfire setup.............. Add battery...check for proper circut workings......... Add oil and crank her over without spark plugs to build oil pressure........ Add gas and turn on the pump making sure the carbs are not spilling over and or leaking from a fuel line I forgot to tighten..... Grab my handy dandy class SUPER DUPER fire extinguisher.......... Sit in car, say my prayers TWICE (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) and flip the fuel pump switch, flip the ignition switch and turn her over ........ WISH ME LUCK!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) and for GODS sake if I am forgetting anything let me know!!!!!!!!! And of course if she runs as well as I hope she does I will most likley spin her around the block!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Well no joy.....spent 3 hours looking for a damn tube for the breather, then 2 hours diagnosing issues with my 'one size fits all' wiring harness. Then oil pressure with no plugs in was not reading after 9 qts added, then fuel pump was putting out 8 PSI and gas leaked from one barrel and down the throat of another....turned the regulator down to 3.5 easy still need to pop the carbs off and check them again....BUT all this on another day!! I am outta town for a 10 day VACA....until next time.......PEACE!! BTW should oil pressure read spinning fast like that w/o plugs? Never could get the idiot light to work....hmmmm

sounds good and smoked like a bitch (mainly from the cheezy exhaust paint from a evilbayer) no CRASH GRIND BANG!! (ok a couple out of the carbs.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) no I am out to see if she will tune a bit (carb work).... Wish me luck!!! Josh the grateful!!! |

The color is POR137....and the primer is just grey all by Dupont (chroma base/ Nason clear. The only problem I am now having is my fuel pressure was dropping and I dont know why?? But I will figure it out. The pump is mounted high so I think it may be that but who knows? It could also be a fuel pickup problem as I had to dump 5 gallons in it to get it to start to draw.....BUT all in all it is looking good and I was able to put the car in all gears today and roll forward and back under power!!!!
