Oh, I forgot - there's the "originality" factor. Except for jafsmith's Swiss car, I don't understand!? Wait, I don't understand that either, since it should be part of the COA or CARDEX info for the car.

What am I missing here??????

Pat

Fog light does not appear on my COA. I suspect it was a dealer applied option.

OK, just a thought here....

The rear fog is "cute"(well, that MAY be a stretch), but unbalanced.

Why is it only applied to the drivers side?

What if you had one on each side? Your visibility would be enhanced 50%! You'd only have to drill a few other holes & I'm certain the wiring change would be pretty simple. Oh, wouldn't be Factory? Sorry, but who cares! Drill those holes....be unique.

Oh, and it makes the rear of the car SO much easier to clean.

So just taking the pulse on the fog light harnesses. It looks like the project is dead from sticker shock? Everyone ok with figuring it out for themselves?

Jeff,

Yes, I am in. As soon as you give me a price I'll pre-pay with a check in the mail. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Ok, so this looks like a limited run of 3 of the rear foglight harnesses.

With just the three, the total comes to $93 ea + shipping. Call it $100. even total with shipping and we are good. Will PM each of you to confirm and with payment details.

Yay! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Reviving an old thread.....

I had one of these on the rear of my '67 911 and loved the look.

I've got a NOS light that I'm considering mounting....who's got the mounting brackets and wiring harness?

I have had the light for sometime new in the box and have thought about using it on my car but didn't have much of an idea as to how it was installed and not realy wanting to add new holes in my newly painted body only to find it all wrong. This is the first time Ive noticed this thread (a bit late I'd guess) but would certainly be up for the wire harness and bracket if still possible.

I've got an original light, dash switch and wiring harness.
Made up a crude 1st attempt at the inner mount myself....I'll make a nicer version as I go along out of stainless steel.

The biggie is the outer bracket.
Eric only made up 3 of these brackets way back when.

Wonder if there is a growing group of people who would want to purchase one if Eric could get them made again?
I'm in for one definitely if that were to ever happen...

Being a bit late to his thread, just 16 years, I was wondering if any of the original three owners ho were interested in installing a rear fog light had actually done that? I am seriously considering doing th same, using brackets I had fabricated before I retired years ago. I would appreciate seeing photos of your installations, especially inside the trunks. Any pointers as far as connecting to the power source and fog light switch would be helpful.

Thanks,

Gary

I added the rear fog light quite a few years ago. I bought a factory harness (probably from AA), but used only the white/green wire. I shortened the wire and added an end so it plugs into the relay board. My fourteen does not have the rear window defogger, so I “hi-jacked” that wiring circuit already in the car, and added a separate rear fog light switch to the right of the steering column. There are unused slots in the dash for extra switches. I found a rear fog light switch symbol out of Europe, and used a standard switch commonly used in the 914 for the front fog lights and rear window defogger. I added a two-fuse fuse box (from the 911) which I installed inside the rear trunk near the rear fog light bracket. (I used only one of the slots in the fuse box.) I installed an older European style rear fog light (flatter red lens). The rear fog light can by operated independently of the headlights or front fog lights. My understanding of the original wiring is that the long factory wire loom (two wires) would have been connected to the switch for the front fog lights and the rear fog light would automatically work with the front fog lights.Attached Image

cdn914,

Could you post a photo or two showing the fuse box you mounted in your rear trunk and the fog light wiring?

Interesting observation; last week we had real fog along the coast. I was behind a local transit bus; red tail lights on and a separate fog lamp on the driver side. But this one was blinking. Really noticeable. ( and it wasn’t a turn signal )

This is one of my favorite posts....
It took awhile but I found a factory wiring harness for this rear fog light.
You can replicate it so easily as it's only 2 wires.
The bracket too took some time as well.
It's either mild steel or some aluminum stock with a little bending.
But when it's yellow zinc/cad plated, it looks so factory.
Plus the "cool" factor when you're leaving a coffee and cars, or your buddy's house.

I have everything I need to do the install, except the side to side location. Are you going by the 5” from the brake light rule, or is there a magic number for this…Like 42mm from the sheet metal tail light opening? I’m at a point where I can drill the holes and paint them. Thanks

Love, Love this White 914-6 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) Beautiful.
I started this fog light about 20-years ago & pulled a few items out of my archive.
Jeff Bowlsby:
I still have my wire harness your built me and it's still waiting for me to install (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) I know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
I attached a few photo's to clear up some member questions & still have more if needed. Rob,@ (Cone Dodger) probably has more in his archive (brackets & ??) Rob was in charge of Bling (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
