I was a big fan of anything VW... The Hebmuller caught my fancy when I was 13:

(IMG:http://beetle.cabriolets.online.fr/jpg/su42.jpg)

The "spats" are cool..

(IMG:http://www.shorey.net/Auto/German/VolksWagon/Beetle/1950%20VW-Hebmuller%20Beetle%20Roadster%20r3q.jpg)

I almost bought a '60 doublecab (with the hole in the rear bumper for the handcrank).. but the rust work would have been overwhelming.

Karmann Ghia. Certainly not "rare" but definitely "oddball" (at least for modern sensibilities)

A lot of what's posted is not oddball and happens to be very collectible.
So keeping in mind the original question..........this is what I'd drive to keep two steps ahead of the secret police, who are looking for members of the 914 Resistance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hide.gif)

Concur---not many of these cars listed are oddball--mainly just a list of the world's coolest rides that folks would like to own. I think Dr Evil got a good one with the 69 Lincoln.

I think the spirit is more like(for example):

"I'd like one of the 401 AMC Gremlins turned out by the Phoenix AMC dealer-ugly, brutal, and definitely odd!"

Most of the cars posted here have been more along the line of dream cars, and we all have those. this is what i would be a little ashamed to tell some people about, but quirky, ugly and cool!

Here's one of my faves, Saab 95 'Buck Rogers' Wagon. After all, you do need something to carry the dog!

AMC Eagle....I dont know why, I just like the ugly thing. All wheel drive, reminiscent of the old Stomper toys...
