Added my 74, VIN 4742906858, chassis 4359585, date code 10-73, color L65K Ravenna Green
Updated my 71, VIN 4712903105, chassis 4029573. Now red, originally yellow. Can't get the date code and color code as car is stuffed in the corner of the garage awaiting a transplant 1.8L and newer clutch. Spoke |

added a new feature: - you can now add a url to a hosted image of your car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Andy PS: easiest way to do that, post a picture of your car in your blog or in a thread, then copy the url of the image into the "Picture Link" box on the page where you edit your VIN info ... Thread is back. Thanks to all who've updated and will soon do so. Those of us who appreciate this input and value it to record both the survivors and the "deceased' 914 #s "thank you." Don't foget to include the color code as well. If you've just joined our 914 family, welcome, and go to the top of the Forum page and click on the "914 Info" to add your 914s' VIN and color code. Just another friendly reminder. The information is useful for many purposes.
Please check the color code on the Karmann badge for accuracy. If you find any discrepancies, be sure to alert me. The body # on the Karmann badge is also very important. Right now we are trying to determine when the black tag with the body number first appeared in the front trunk, and also when the body number changed from xxy95zz to xxy90zz. to help out see this thread: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=76497 |

time for yet another (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif)
Knowing how many of these cars have survived is very useful. |

Well I'm guessing it was two separate cars at one time.
Look carefully to see where it was stitched together. What is the VIN on the ownership? When you say the number up front, is that the number stamped into the right fender, or the number on the VW badge on the headlight bucket? What VIN's do you find? Get the data from the Karmann badge and compare the body number on the badge to the number in the trunk floor. Compare the paint code to the color of the car. It could be just the fender was replaced. |

This, yet ANOTHER reminder to ple-e-e-ease keep your VINs current. If you're new to this site, added a parts car, a roller, or just cut a 914 up, add/change the info which can be accessed by going to the 914 Info site at the top, right side of the forum page.
Also appreciated is if you can provide the chassis # (from the Karmann plate by the driver's door hinge post) and the color code (also on the same plate). I'm seeing an increased number of colors showing up in the register, this is good. We need to continue to account for as many cars/chassis #s/colors as we possibly can. Thanks again to all. due to very limited time I didn't re-read this thread yet, but I've got a general question to the 914World Member VIN Numbers
wouldn't it be a benefit to add an additional info to the list? I'm thinking of a second colour info => "original colour" and "actual colour" from what I saw within the last couple of years, lots of teeners are painted in a non-original colour just an idea ... The main part of the list is to record original information.
The current colour block is for actual or current colour. New members, please add your car and as much information as possible. Add engine and transmission numbers in the comments field. |

It has been a few months since the last bump, so for all the new members we invite you to update your member profile with as much data on your 914's as possible. For the older members, a reminder to ensure your info is up to date and as complete as possible. Sincere thanks from the Vin Admin team |

A (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif) and a question... How do I add a VIN for a car that is not mine? Whenever I see a 914 for sale, I get the VIN... Add it as yours and state in the description that it isn't, something like: "Found this on the web ..." Then let me know and i can remove you as the "owner" ...
