Maybe @Tygaboy will lend you the "Header Legos" he used to make the 914 Ferrari headers?

@ClayPerrine @Rick 918-S Rick, the header kit I have is 1 5/8". If that'll work for you, let me know. I'd be happy to lend it to you. If you want to check it out, look up Ice Engine Works.

The MSDS design for OE 928 clears a bellhousing and quickly tapers contour for the floorboard just under the torque tube. Check out the newer Gen-2 style merge collectors/ slip on and will be easier for you to join the 'Newer 4 tube arrangement that you are slicing + dicing !

I'll send you a couple of these + 2 new flanges, make your collector point a lot easier. Note that the 4 tubes will spread out a few fractions of an inch more>>just plan on that. When finished just weld on 1 pinch bolt design / each side; a few miles driving and these joints will seal with carbon.

Thank you for the offer. Looks like Marty has a simple solution. I was just going to deconstruct 2 of the tubes from the collectors, Rotate the tubes inward to take the hips out of the set. The way I have it planned I won't loose any of the equal length tubes.

Well I was able to deconstruct two of the header tubes on the right side today. I cut the bottom of the first two tubes at the head flange and tipped the header out to move it away from the cable pulley. Then I started reshaping the third and forth tubes for a tighter fit.

I started tacking the tubes back together. I have some mandrel bends on order to finish out the tubes.

@technicalninja we use this merge style collector on all of our production headers; 928, 928 32v, 944, 944 16v, 968. A bit more HP/tQ and throttle response with the merge !
Rick I'm sure that once you get them big hips outta there, you're fab skills + final detailing on the primaries = you will have a good pair of custom headers. Hope you make the 914 meet up !

Ok, so I have been working on this header issue over the week. As I was working on the first redesign I realized the header was too low and too long to really connect up to the out put tubes.

So back to the drawing board. This is what I ended up with. I am loosing the equal length effect a "little" but I don't have a tubing bender and didn't have any real tight bends to shoot the two rear tubes forward radically then back. Everything is tacked and ready to TIG weld. Ultimately I think it was worth the effort so far.

Started the research on the flywheel for the Boxster Conversion. This is a 928 Automatic Transaxle flywheel I think I can machine the ring gear off and use it.
