This is my 1972 914/4
As you can see I need to do a little body work. The original color is/was gemini blue but I am repainting it metalic blue (L98P). I've already sprayed the trunks and it looks awsome. -Rob (IMG:http://myspace-438.vo.llnwd.net/00384/83/40/384740438_l.jpg) |

Not the most exciting pic, but this is from when I first went to look at my '75 2.0
before buying it last summer. Now that I have it and have learned a lot more about them (thanks mostly to this board), I have found where to look for rust- and there appears to be a lot of it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif) Looks like I'm going to learn how to weld, I just hope that once I uncover everything I find that it's worth doing. Thanks Bruce... too bad the hub cap on the driver side has a nice dent in it. Anyone know if dents in the chrome caps can be 'pushed out' or restored someway to a 'no dent' condition?

Attached are a couple pictures of my ‘75 914 1.8. Still running strong with the original engine and original paint. I acquired this car about a year ago, and have more or less started learning to work on old cars during this time. This car is still a work in progress, but progress has been made. In the past year I have replaced the rear brake calipers, installed vintage Fuchs (had steel wheels), replaced tires, had the vinyl on drivers seat replaced, replaced the steering bearing, renewed the tire pressure powered window wash system, painted engine lid/deck black, replaced lettering on engine lid, added hood crest, replaced shift bushings, moved speakers & replaced door panels which had speaker holes, added passenger side mirror, wired for fog lamps, currently rebuilding a set of ‘75 fog lamps, and several other small projects too numerous to mention.
I still have many things planned for this car, and am enjoying owning it. I could not have accomplished half as much as I did without the information & help I get from this forum. Thanks! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) |
