My "new" California spec '75 2.0 (bought last weekend)
I have already pulled the black stripes and am working on buffing the dull, weathered paint. The original Diamond Silver Metallic paint now makes a nice "ghosted" stripe against the gray of the rest of the car. (IMG:http://www.volksbraggin.com/porsche/sms914.jpg) |

Hi everybody I'm a new one on this BBS. My name is Yannick and I'm living near Paris, FRANCE. I bought few months ago this nice '71 914/6, that lived in San Diego for many years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) very nice 914/6 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) i'm not knocking your beautiful 914 but something i noticed was the black california plates. the strange thing is the last year of black plates was 69'. very occasionally a early 70 model had one. in 70' the blue plates were introduced. but the biggest thing was the black plates were ALL 3 letters followed by 3 numbers. the number/letter/number combo., as your shows, didn't start until the early 80's on the blue plate line. i've always been a bit of a liscence plate freak and had fun in reading them, so i'm not poking at yours, it just makes me wonder. do the plates appear repainted? with out confirming this, i think all black plates had 63 stamped in the upper left corner. they then started applying yearly renewal decals every year over that area. the biggest question is: do you care (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |

(63-69 vintage) any input, flat n' race? is there a 63' stamped under the upper left stickers? |

Well,
I've had my 914 since 1994, so I guess it's about time to post some pics. Of note: I have orig 2.0 fuchs that will be going on shortly with some 195/60s. I also have the vinyl and trim for the roll bar that needs to go on, SSI heat exchangers, another center console (DAPO killed the old one), a nice early 70's blaupunkt radio, a chrome luggage rack and some other stuff. Since buying, took the FI off and put in a box for storage, and put dual 40 Webbers on. I also got it repainted from a nasty purple color to correct Light Ivory, and scrounged up the proper front valence in place of the cracked fiberglass thing it had, along with an original mirror and stock steering wheel. Very little rust--longs are beautiful--just rear trunk under tail lights and hell hole/lower firewall issues. Lastly and most importantly, it's getting a 2056!
