1974 3.2/ biturbo flat fan Is this photo trickery or are you really in a full drift? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Not drifting...just white-knuckled jittery hands on the camera, after driving it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) |

Hot rod style with caps removed.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i279.photobucket.com-13736-1428221081.1.png) Thinking about powder-coating a set of 5.5" steelies for my wife's car - in something like a gun-metal gray, but blacking out the centers like Porsche did on my 912 wheels (and running without hub caps too). It does give it an outlaw look of sorts. |

Should look pretty good....for late steelies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Have you thought about having them coat the centers black, then masking that off and coating the outer edges with a nice shiny silver? … no rattling add-on beauty-rims to scratch your wheels, and less weight too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

So are black centers and silver lips the factory look? I thought they came out all silver. |

Back when I couldn't afford nice aluminum aftermarket wheels (for any vehicle), I'd paint the stock wheels black with silver lips - something my older brothers used to do on their cars in the 50's and 60's.
I'm not an expert on stock 914 wheels, but I think they changed the style of wheel sometime in 1974. I don't remember them ever being black as a factory color, always silver. The beauty rims came around with the 'late' style wheels as seen on the 75/76 models. Here's some 'late' stock wheels that someone painted with chrome paint. The wheel on the left is sort of what I was talking about, except I'd paint the entire center black. |

Vernon Valley is now called Mountain Creek, which includes the old Great Gorge. The Red Tail Lodge is the new base facility.

Former northern California autocross car. 1971 chassis going to Las Vegas for -6 conversion. 1976 engine to SoCal to breathe life into a resting, otherwise complete car. VIN added to data base. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) good!! |
