Got a chance to swap cars with my son today (his 914, my old car). Comparing the SC to the 914, the 914 is very light and agile and in its current state pulls and revs well up to 6k.

One of the salesmen from the local dealership put together a ride yesterday to Lexington VA where we had lunch at the famous "Southern Inn".
2 Turbos, GT3 Touring, GT4, Panamera and our lonely 914. They had the power on top but Rt. 60 between 29 and Lexington is crooked as a pig's tail. The 914 had no problems in the twisties. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

Any idea if owners in the area ever get together? Nothing official... there's a few local events that draw some members such as the Salzsee european car show up at Solitude. Keep your eyes open for aircooled shows and you'll usually see a couple. |

Cool looking car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) . Same perspective for me—fun driver to play with. The plus on this car is that you get to meet and bound with good folks in this site. |

Snow on the ground this morning gave way to clear skies and clean roads! Went out at sunset for a quick jog around the block.
There are some cool "tools" in the garage but for smiles per hour this one is really hard to beat. Thank you, 914. PS: Did all the vacuum lines last weekend and also cleaned the AAR. Pulled the long term in-the-car (loose) resistor out for a repair to the wiring. Awaiting a new one but this one is still in spec. Thanks to McMaster-Carr for the cool heat shrink plugs that I drilled for the wires to pass through. They slide onto the resistor and once "shrunk" make a very stable setup. The car was having a high idle issue which has disappeared. It starts perfectly, idles normally and then up to around 1,400 during warm up phase. Once warmed up drops to normal speed. I'm quite pleased with the results. I took some liberties with how I placed the resistor back in the engine compartment including connectors and zip tying it up out of the bottom of the compartment. Yes, there are clamps where their were none but I have a drawer full from Norma and Oetiker and they've never let me down when it comes to holding hoses in place. Thanks to everyone here who has provided information on making the FI system work properly. |
